How do I transfer a sketch onto large canvas? This isn’t a problem when you’re working with smaller dimensions. You can either sketch directly onto the canvas or use transfer or carbon paper to easily trace it out. But what do you do when you have the perfect drawing in your sketch book and need to enlarge it? You could try to redraw it if you’re talented enough, but I’m neither talented in sketch augmentation nor do I have the patience. Instead, I use an old-school overhead projector that I purchased off of eBay for $30-35. I simply place an acetate or transparency sheet on my sketch, trace it out with a marker, and project the drawing onto the canvas. Once projected, you can resize the image by using the projector’s fancy knobs and dials or use your fancy legs to move it forward or backwards. Simple right?
